The procedure for a browlift is very similar to that of a facelift in that the incision is made across the top of the scalp, just behind or in front of the hairline, extending from ear to ear. (The hair in front of the incision line may need to be trimmed.) The incision can be made in one of the deep horizontal skin lines of the forehead or just above the brows for men with thinning hair. This endoscopic procedure has the advantage of smaller incisions and decreased numbness.
The skin and muscle are separated from the bone down to the eyes then the forehead muscle is either divided or removed to retard further wrinkling. Excess skin is pulled back and removed, thus elevating the brow area. Once the appropriate changes are affected, the incisions are closed with sutures or clips and the area washed. Gauze and an elastic bandage may be used.
