Once tissue amount to be removed is determined by your doctor, the incisions are made in the folds and contours of the upper lids, so they are barely visible. In the lower lids the incisions are usually made under the lash line and along smile wrinkles to conceal fine scars. Incisions can also be made inside the eyelid when done to to remove bags only, thus totally eliminating all visible scarring. Very fine sutures close the surgical wounds and moist dressings are placed over the eyes followed by cold packs to reduce bruising and swelling. The procedure, by itself, can take from an hour to an hour and a half.
Before surgery, the incision sites are marked following the natural lines are creases of the upper and lower lids.
The surgeon closes the incisions with fine sutures, which will leave nearly invisible scars.
