As in all surgeries, patients will be monitored closely during the recovery period. Attempting to remove to much weight can lead to life threatening complications.

Liposuction is one of the most commonly performed procedures in this country with very good results, and although uncommon, serious postoperative complications have been reported. Any surgery involves risks and the surgeon will freely discuss these with each patient. More often, patients experience minor problems, such as localized infection or blood-filled areas under the skin. These are easily treated and go away with time. In some cases, a patient will present inadequate skin shrinkage over the treated area or depressions from too much fat removal. It is possible that another procedure is required for the best results. Patients should be aware that liposuction has limitations and will not remove cellulite or other surface irregularities.
